Another superb Zero model from William Reece, this time an A6M3 Model 32 built from the Hasegawa 1/48th scale kit and using the kit supplied decals.
William mixed the exterior colour to match FS 26350 using Polly Scale paints to the formula 2 parts white, 1.25 parts FS 34098 and 3 parts RLM 02 with an overcoat of Polly Scale clear satin.
William acknowledges that after building the model he learned the fuselage stripe should be yellow rather than blue, as revealed by colour photographs of the aircraft standing derelict at Buna.

That's a great looking Zeke. Well done. Straggler: Do you have a link to the color photos referenced in this post? I'd like to see them.
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill, thanks for commenting. Try the j-aircraft.com website for the Buna colour photographs or ask the Navy Board moderator there. They have been shown a few times in connection with Zero colours and the relics therefrom. Colour photographs of another A6M3 may be seen at the Fuku BBS (check the links in the sidebar).
The appearance of these Zeros is nothing like the current colour of the artifacts taken from them which have very probably darkened and ambered with age!
Great work on the Zero kit, William.
