Hi Nick!
What color is shown below the dark green on the lower surfaces of these floatplane? Thanks, Jim Lansdale
Digital analysis provides two distinct average readings. On the fuselage sides the closest standard Munsell to the average readings at the cowling, behind the fuselage Hinomaru and on the lower rudder is 10 YR 6/4 @ 3.5 to 4.0. These are the areas which appear slightly amber or "golden". Beneath the wing and on the struts the closest standard Munsell is 5 Y 6/2 @ 3.0 to 3.23. These areas appear to be a "brighter" grey-green.
The fuselage Hinomaru have a "halo" of the undersurface colour rather than a white border.

Aircraft in the background are "Petes".
